Museum Hours

 

Beginning January 2009 our museum will be open to the public on the third Sunday of each month between the hours of 1 to 4pm.  A genealogist will be available most of the time to answer any questions.

 

 

Monthly Meetings

 

Albany Township Historical Society meetings are held in the main room on the ground floor of our headquarters, 7:30 PM on the third Monday of the month, unless otherwise posted.  The 2009 Calendar is under development.  Please stay tuned for updates:

November 17th

            

The History of Schaumboch’s Tavern

Meeting held in the Common Room at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, 7:30 PM.

 

Guest speaker Tod Bauman will talk about the history and mysteries of Schaumboch’s Tavern.  A tour of Schaumboch’s Tavern, across the road from the Common Room, is also included. 

 

Parking is very limited, carpooling is recommended.

The Common Room is located on Hawk Mountain Road just below the Sanctuary.  For directions to Hawk Mountain, visit their website at www.hawkMountain.org.

December 15th

            

Holiday Celebration and Election of Officers for 2009.  Light refreshments and a photo slide show.

 

December 20th

Saturday the museum is open from 10 to 2 PM.  Several local crafters will also be on hand selling unique gifts just in time for the holidays.  If you have any old photos you want to share with our genealogist, please bring them along.

 

 

March 16, 2009

Patrick Donmoyer will be our guest speaker.  He will present a slide show on "Barn Stars: -a Photographic Survey of Berks County." The slide show is part of his Honors thesis at Kutztown University.  Patrick will graduate in Spring of 2009.
